Result

Enter an amount and choose the calculation; the result appears as you type.

How is VAT calculated?

To add VAT, multiply the amount by the rate. To take VAT out of a gross price, divide the price by (1 + the rate).

Adding VAT VAT = Net × Rate · Gross = Net + VAT

Removing VAT Net = Gross ÷ (1 + Rate) · VAT = Gross − Net

Frequently asked questions

How do I remove VAT from a gross price?

Divide the gross price by (1 + the VAT rate); the result is the net amount and the difference is the VAT. At 20%, 1,200 ÷ 1.20 = 1,000. Taking 20% of the gross (240) is wrong, because VAT is charged on the net amount.

What are the VAT rates in Türkiye?

The standard rate is 20%. The reduced rates are 10% and 1%, for the goods and services in lists (I) and (II) annexed to the VAT law. These rates have applied since 10 July 2023; the source is below.

Why is the VAT sometimes a cent different from another calculation?

VAT is rounded to the cent. When removing VAT the calculator rounds the net amount first and takes the VAT as the difference, so the parts add up exactly to the price you entered. A few cents' difference from an invoice rounded line by line is normal.

Can I use it for another country's VAT?

Yes. Choose Other and type the rate. The method — multiply to add, divide by (1 + rate) to remove — is the same everywhere VAT works this way.
