What is an Instagram grid preview for?
See how your posts will sit side by side on your profile before you share them. On Instagram the newest post is top left.
Frequently asked questions
What ratio does the Instagram profile grid use?
In early 2025 Instagram replaced the square grid with taller vertical previews. Because the ratio is not officially documented, the tool shows it as "the widely reported 3:4"; you can also choose the old square view.
What size should my posts be?
According to the Instagram Help Centre, feed photos with ratios between 1.91:1 and 3:4 are kept at full resolution at 1080 pixels wide. For vertical 3:4 you can use 1080 × 1440 pixels, and for 4:5, 1080 × 1350 pixels. You can bring your images to these sizes with the Social Media Image Resizer.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. The images open only in your browser and are gone when you close the page.
Can I add my existing posts too?
Yes. Add the latest posts from your profile as well to see how new content will fit with your current grid; newly added images go to the start of the grid.
From grid to calendar.
Planned, in-progress and finished content is counted on the same calendar; you see which days of the period are still empty before they come.
